This is the signature in the album, under the little watercolour:

The E looks to be the same shape
The T has an upward stroke to the top
There is the same gap between the s and e in Townsend
The continued stroke to the letter d at the end of Townsend is similar.
Just sayin'...

What I really would like to know is whether the Ernest in the album is Dora's brother. Here is the double page, with the signed watercolour, a date, and a dedication, in which she states that Ernest and Minnie are her "loving brother and sister".
Does anyone have details of all 8 children of James Townsend, coachbuilder of Derby? The signatures are remarkably similar.
I know he had an elder sister, Florence and his eldest brother was William George Paulson Townsend.

William pursued a career as an art teacher, becoming teacher of drawing, government examiner of art and Master of Design at the Royal School of Needlework.

I don't think they were brother's and sister's, but they were cousins.
Ernest's parents were James and Sarah Townsend (nee Paulson)
Dora's parents were William and Jane Townsend (nee Pritchard)
James and William were brothers. They were the son's of William and Sarah Townsend (nee Hill)

Finally! Thank you so much. I suspected they were cousins, but the reference to 'brother and sister' threw me, then the Pritchard/Morgan confusion added to it.
I know from personal experience that you can't always trust GRO: I didn't need a long birth certificate until I moved to France, but my application was refused, on the grounds that I had got my mother's first name wrong! Now I think I know what my mother is called, and I have PRINTED records of her birth, marriage and death, together with those of my 4 siblings, with the correct name (Barbara), instead of 'Valerie', which for some reason is on mine! GRO said it was not in their power to help and that I should contact the place my birth was registered (which no longer exists, of course!).
It does look, then, as though that little watercolour was signed by Dora's cousin, Ernest. I wonder if I should contact his family: his son, Bruce gave an interview to the Derby Telegraph in 2018 on how his father helped save Rolls-Royce from German bombers in Second World War.
