Family Tree Maker 2012

And the above is just my Bowness tree in particular. I am in touch with Figueroa descendants of the original Jose Maria Figueroa of Galicia all around the world. From Jamaica to Hawaii to Dubai and so on. The ones who live here in Toronto expect me to hand over all my research and rudely demand it.

Guess who will have to wait for a "frosty Friday in July"???? :D

Didn't you just have some of them over there Heather? or was that June?;)

Nah...this was a horrendously hot summer!! June included. My daughter arrived here on June 5th so I can pin the time to that. We had a double "special birthday" thing. 25 years apart. But a certain special pair of numbers, which will remain quiet, lol.
<|:)

You can usually spot the "name harvesters" by the number of relations they have in their trees. I have an alleged 10th cousin in Australia who had 24,000 relatives in his tree when he first contacted me through Genes Reunited. At that time I had less than 1,200. Within a short space of time his relatives had increased to over 27,000, including all my mother's ancestors who cannot possibly be of any interest to him as they are not related to him in any way.

I gave up trying to advise corrections to his tree -- he said he would check his research but I'm sure he never did. He is one of many who has my 4 x great grandfather William Webb baptised in Ampthill in 1749 where no such baptism exists.

I broke off contact with him several years ago and he no longer has access to my tree, or me to his.

All the best,

guess my memory goes further back than that then, to folk wondering when their summer would arrive.

that's not a quiet give away is it?

Hi,

Can someone tell me, do you need to have your tree on Ancestry for the synchronising to work with FTM 2012?

Karen

Did we all misread this question?? I think the answer is YES......your ENTIRE FTM tree has to be on Ancestry in order to sync it. If I am reading this right the second time.

My answer is still NO, I will not put my personal FTM 1800-name tree on Ancestry, but I have a very small one with just 3 generations I have put on there.

I noticed that unless it is a free weekend, I can't access some of the Shoebox items. (again "I think"........I just don't like their proprietary ways).:(

Thanks Figgs for the answer.. I won't be putting my tree on Ancestry so not worth me upgrading to 2012 from 2011.

Have enjoyed the conversations though!!

I would stay with that one, Karen. Mine was so old it had a gray beard and didn't like Win7. I have the old one on my XP machine and I can figure that one out a lot faster.

I just have a "hinky" feeling about Ancestry and don't know if it is different when you pay your $$$ and join, but Bowness is not a common name in North America and I get THOUSANDS of them if I put it in search. There just aren't all that many that exist!!

It is not so much now but what they will do in the future with all these trees and no one can be sure of that.
