Father's name?

The father's name has been crossed through and there is no father's name on Ernest's birth certificate. Any suggestions? I thought I had it, but FMP have something completely different.

Expect they had a lot to get through - and actually didn't care if it were legible or not - they wouldn't be the ones trying to decipher it over a hundred years later
