Hi,
I became interested in family history when I was a teenager. At about 17 years old I interviewed my great grandmother asking questions that I had found in a book. I pursued it for a few more years but then life got busy with children and jobs and I put it aside. It was alot harder to do back in the day of snail mail.

Fast forward to about 15 years ago; I realized I have time and now there is the internet. I dug out the paper with the answers that my great grandmother had given me, took an introductory course to genealogy and now it has become my passion (obsession??)

I live in Alberta, Canada and some of my ancestors have been here for over 125 years possibly longer as this is one of my brickwalls.

The rest of my ancestors for the most part are from the Brighton, Sussex area or from Liverpool, Lancashire.

Family names are

Beaton - Canada
Kottman - Canada and Germany
Oliver - Brighton, Sussex
Clark - Brighton, Sussex
Middlebrough - Liverpool, Lancashire
Aindow - Liverpool, Lancashire
Roberts - Liverpool, Lancashire
Risdale - Liverpool, Lancashire

Could I ask you to add a location to your profile please.

Hover over your name on the top bar, next to 'Inbox' and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on 'Personal Details' and scroll down to location.

This will help us by seeing where you are from and we won't try sending you to Kew to look things up. I know you have said you are from Canada in this thread but when you start posting your queries in another thread then that won't show. Thanks :)
