The Knowledgeable One
Hello everyone

My name is Jane and I'm a genealogy addict. The first symptoms appeared when I was about 11, when I began quizzing my granny about the meaning of rows of initials on a sampler created by her Scottish granny. Granny didn't know what they meant . . . and that set me thinking. Nearly 40 years later, the sampler has passed down to me, as the eldest granddaughter; it is a physical link bank to that other little girl, my ancestor, who created the sampler so long ago and who inspired me to search for my ancestry.

I've learned about most of the pitfalls in genealogy by falling in them myself! I hope I can help others to navigate around the pot-holes and find their way.

Hi Jane - welcome to TOP DOG!

I love samplers - I have one on my wall that was made by my great grandmother in 1866 when she was 10. They really are quite beautiful, aren't they?

Have a rummage round and make yourself at home.

Welcome to the forum Jane,
lovely to chat to you again.
I am sure I will be one of those asking for help to navigate around the pot-holes of family history.
I've lots more exciting events to discover.

Hi Little One.....glad to see you too are of Scottish ancestry (my middle name is Jane, btw)

I will eventually find my way around here.

Hi Jane and welcome

I like samplers as well - samples of single malt whiskey and dark chocolate mainly. All the others are a bit girly for me.

cheers
Tony
