May be on the verge of knocking some more bricks out of a wall, there is one name I am desperate for it to be but not going to say what it is as i want to avoid confirmation bias.

What do you think John Kennedy's fathers name is please?

It looks like Laurence to me, I have had a Lawrence become a Laurence and vice versa in my Laurence/Lawrence line as a surname and spelled both ways also as a first name.

As Sue stated it depends on the person recording it, one of my ancestors who was baptised William Tibbles in Chelmsford Essex in 1776, married as William Tibbel in Stebbing Essex. William and his wife Sarah had 13 children born in Stebbing, the first child had the name spelled Tibbold , the 2nd Theobald, the next 4 Tibbold, the remaining 7 Tibbald. In the next generation also at Stebbing it was Theobald.
