Thank you, Arthur - certainly a very strong possibility. On the basis that they didn’t complete their own forms and their accent might have been hard to understand, how about Swainstown and Waynestown, both townlands in Co. Meath, and not too far from each other?
Couldn't see them in either 1851 or 1871. However, I was really looking for Gallagher and the chap that I am searching is nowhere to be seen in 1861. Just this lot popped up instead. Even then, his birth is way out....Have you found the Gollachans anywhere else other than 1861, Jan? There's a handful of local burials that I can see, otherwise...![]()
Swineford (also spelt Swinford)? This is a parish, and one of its 28 townlands is also called Swineford. In the 1871 census (RG10 Piece 5640 Fol. 59 Page 3) there are
a John and Mary Gallagher with their daughter Mary and their son William. All of them live in Primrose Hill (qv 1861 census).
If this is them then John and Mary come from County Mayo....your call!!.

Solved that little mystery - there's only one and it spans a parish boundary so the first site I mentioned listed it twice. See this map:There are also two townlands in Co. Londonderry called Walworth...
