Happy Middlesex Day

"Die hard 57th, die hard!"

I have just had a quick history lesson.

Also a botany lesson. The wood anemone is the county flower of Middlesex.
Middlesex Heritage recognise both the Wood Anemone and Middlesex Rose as county flowers”
Plantlife (flower charity) did a county flower project about 15 years ago. Wood anemone for Middlesex but we can have that as our wild flower. Middlesex Rose is our real county flower.”

Very recently a donated flag had been flown over Downing Street but it was not done this time (despite a parliamentary question this week !) But tthe Commons Speaker has arranged for it to fly from The Speaker’s Flagpole in New Palace Yard, a precinct within the House of Commons..

Lincolnshire day is on October 1st every year. It is supposed to celebrate the anniversary of the Lincoln rising - a rebellion that started in 1536.

Cheshire Day is March 30th. "The date commemorates the charter of liberties granted to Cheshire by King Edward I in 1300, which functioned similarly to a local Magna Carta." So there you are. Every day is a school day.
