Harold Ronald Thorold / Surrey

I am trying to find some basic military information regarding the service of Harold Ronald Thorold who was born in 1926 in Lambeth and died on 14 January 2022.
He enlisted on 30 November 1944 in the East Surrey Regiment later going to
9th Battalion Parachute Regiment in March 1945.

I know this would better be posted under military queries however I am wondering if someone might be able to track down an obituary that might clarify if he was actually
in combat during WWII. This is quite a mystery due to conflicting information. Essentially all I am trying to find out is if he went to Germany in WWII. Maybe an obituary might
help? So far records for this Battalion are quite sparse and difficult to access.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

This is all I could find

SYLVIA THOROLD Passed away peacefully January 8th 2022 aged 95, and HAROLD RONALD THOROLD (Ron) Passed away peacefully January 14th 2022, aged 95. Dearly loved parents. A funeral service will be held at Seven Hills Crematorium, Nacton On Saturday February 5th 2022 at 11.00 a.m. Family flowers only please.

Thanks for that info. A little more evidence is better than nothing. I guess that helps put him from Lambeth into the Ipswich area.
