Hi,

my name is Daniel and I am from Lincolnshire, my paternal side are from Ireland and England and has been the subject of my cousin and uncle's genealogy attempts (I say attempts, it is very detailed).

this inspired me to find out about my maternal side as we (my mother inc.) knew little of the history. Her maternal side (Bedells) has been researched previously from 60's - 80's, possibly later, I have a book written in the late 80's and the author died in 2001. - I have found extra information not in this book.

My mother's paternal side (Gadsby) was of more interest and I have gone as far back as 1640 and have a couple of possible parents in the area.

My main aim is to fill in the gaps and find people that are barking up the same trees as I. On my profile is a list of surnames I am most interested in, I couldn't list them all as it grows!

"A yellowbelly (or yeller belly) is a person from Lincolnshire, England. The origin of this nickname is disputed, and many explanations have been offered." - Wiki, http://en. wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowbelly_(Lincolnshire)

I included the link as it has a list of possible explanations :)

Hi hermitpez,

Thanks for the explanation, I never heard that term used for a Lincolnshire person, in Essex anyone from outside Essex was simply a furriner (foreigner for the colonials and others)

By the way it seems from your William Lunn post that the Lunns no matter what county they are in are a pain, I have a Margaret Lunn married in Essex 1746 so born about 1725 who just will not show herself. One of these days! :D
