Hello, from a newbie

Thanks for your warm welcome! I have to admit that when I signed on to this site and when I said I was hoping to research my mother's genealogy, that I didn't realize that nearly everyone here is from Great Britain! I also didn't realize that the site seems dedicated to researching ancestors from Great Britain.:oops: My mother's parental line is from Norway and her maternal line is from Scotland (I think, so maybe that one is OK) However, never fear, my father's ancestors hail from Kent, County! So it seems I may have landed in the right place by accident!:)

@Jean Durey Albers You are certainly in the right place. Just because a majority of the members here are from Gr.Britain doesn't stop them from helping no matter where our ancestors are from. They are very knowledgeable Some can really help you with Scotland and I am sure there are folks with knowledge of where to search in Scandinavia. Everyone likes getting their teeth in to something new to research!

Oh Jean, never fear, many of those British folk are chasing their family members to farflung places like Australia Canada USA Sth. Africa & Asia etc.

I am immeshed in kent rellies also but happily we have some gems here to help us wallow our way forward & come up with the answers- most of the time. Some records are still hard to come by but we keep bashing away.
This site is Captained by British Admin & naturally attracts locals via Family fairs & online contacts but we are slowly evening things out.

Bring your cousins & friends & help us out a little more. ;)

Time to buddy off :)
Buddy off? That was supposed to be bundy off.
Phone had no idea what I was wanting to say.:(
Time now for homemade soup and homebaked bread. No small task in that my breadmaker decided to cause a short in my electrical circuit. Fixed now and finished off in oven. Thank goodness for the 'clipsal' safety cutout.
Sorry! Didn't mean to waffle on/off piste.
