Hello,

I'm new to this forum but not to family history. Several decades ago I took a degree in history then went into IT, as you do. About 25 years ago I decided to make some use of my historical interest and skills in my spare time and started researching my family history. I'm now retired and still trying to find enough time to do all the research, filing and writing I want to do!

.... By the way the 036 is not my age (I'm older) nor the year of my birth (I'm not that old) but just my lucky number with a leading zero, in an attempt to distinguish myself from all the other folk called Sue!

Hello Sue C|:-)

Welcome to Top Dog, a site I'm sure you'll find friendly and helpful.

I too am retired and like you there doesn't seem to be enough hours in my day, makes me wonder how I ever found time to work ;)

Hello and welcome. C|:-)
Any problems, just ask, we are a friendly bunch and willing to help as best we can.

Have fun Sue36 ;)

Hi Sue,
It worked the other way for me, started researching family and then discovered history was not just about Corn Laws and battles!

Welcome to another Sue ---we are a special breed :p

As for filing... mugwortismy cat I believe it is something other than the piles of paper my cat sleeps on while I am visiting genealogy land, but I'm not certain..

Filing is piles of paper and hastily scribbled notes stuffed into ring binders in a sequence that makes sense to me when I am doing it but not necessarily five years later when I need to find something :)
