Hello everybody
I was having a coffee with Jan this morning when she happened to mention genealogy. Isn't it a thrill to meet somebody else who goes on adventures into the past? So, here I am.
My Uncle Ernest wrote up his 'Brief History' of my father's family in 1984. I typed it for him. About twenty years later, I had an idle look through it. Uncle Ernie had written things like, 'I do not know what happened to Tom Sidney . . . '. Within a short space of time, I found out about Tom Sidney, using the Internet. I was hooked.
My family is most definitely northern and I was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire. Although I moved away in 1980, I often spend time wandering around the online registers, censuses and newspapers for the area.
Recently, I've been writing up my investigations into the Flower family from Bolton Percy, Yorkshire - my 3x great grandparents. This month (October), I've been gathering information on my husband's family, from Northern Ireland. In November, I'm going to be working on some old (early 20th century) diaries of a lady in south Wales. I travel around without leaving my desk!
