Help with a name please

Sis

Rootles out resources!
This is from a Sottish baptism. Can anyone please tell me what the first name of the second person is. I have Charles Kerr and A???? Doherty. I know it definitely starts with an A because the child being baptised has the second name of Anne. Unfortunately the person that made this entry made very few others for me to compare with.

That's what I thought too AM, but...... not absolutely sure. The mother of the child baptised is Margaret Doherty and Irish I'm pretty sure though no baptism has been found. This is the only other Doherty connected to the family that I have found!

Thank you people, at this stage I am inclined to go with Aurel. But am still open to sugestions.

Just did a google of Aurel and one site says it's a boys name of German, Romanian, Czech, Slovak origin. Another site says it's Latin and can also be used as a girls name. Might have a real good search tomorrow for an Aurel Doherty in Glasgow first, where the baptism was and then maybe Ireland. Don't hold out much hope, but it's always worth a try. Your never know if you don't give it a go!

Are you sure it isn't Anne, with what looks like an 'l' at the end being the tail of the letter in the entry above? If you look at the 'y' at the end of Doherty, it appears to have a sort of v-shaped end.

Nice one, @AnnB - it looks rather like a backwards 'tick'. ;)
