Can somebody kindly advise whether it is protocol to continue a long post like this or to break to a new one for a supplementary question? I'll mention it and if it needs moving, please feel free to do so.

As you may recall, Celestin Dansey married his cousin Frances Dansey. Her brother was Dansey John Dansey who sailed to Australia with his Mother Mary Elizabeth Dansey (nee Pearson) and his Brother Henry Roger Dansey arriving around 8th May 1853. Mary and Henry returned to England but we are not sure when they came back and we were wondering if the date coincided with the misfortunes that we happening to Frances and Celestin.

Dansey John Dansey (c 1832 - 23 July 1907) stayed in Australia, married Margaret Catherine Brown and they had twelve children and started one of the Australian Dansey lines.

I have moved this to a new thread.

Do you have any further information about them? For example, have you found them in the census after they returned, years of birth may help, which Australian State could they have left from.

Ancestry have shipping arrivals on line for the U.K. covering 1878 - 1960 and some of the Australian States have shipping records for departures on line as well.

I can't find them on the 1861 census.

Looks like they were back by 1864 as there is an Administration for Mary Elizabeth in 1864.

Mary Elizabeth Dansey - 20 March. Letters of Administration of the Personal estate and effects of Mary Elizabeth Dansey late of Ludlow in the County of Salop Widow deceased who died 25 July 1864 at Ludlow aforesaid were granted at Shrewsbury to Frances Dansey of Aymestry in the County of Hereford Widow the Daughter and one of the Next of Kin of the said Deceased she having been first sworn. Effects under £50.
 
Victoria has outbound shipping indexes online for the period and I was not able to find them there.
 
Looks like they were back prior to 1863. The net is closing :)

Effects under £200.

Even though the death took place in 1863 it was 1867 before the administration too place.
 
The Marchioness of Londonderry left Plymouth on 8 May 1853 arriving in Melbourne on 9 August then on to Port Jackson arriving 18 August. Mrs Dansey and son(s) disembarked at Port Jackson. There were 30 cases of measles on board but no sign of ship in quarantine, although I can't read the writing properly. They were full fare paying passengers.:)
 
Is this the Mary that married Edward Collins Dansey? If so then I have just been having a great read. I wish they hadn't stopped at chapter one. :)

Yes indeed. Mary Elizabeth Dansey and HRD stayed on the ship and Dansey John Dansey her other son, disembarked in Sydney.

We then find HRD living in Ludlow c 1863 and he dies on Jersey on the 19th January 1863.

We haven't found the return journey from Australia to England for MED and HRD (DJD stays in Australia). They are not mentioned (AFAIK) in the UK 1861 Census and as MED dies in 1864 in Ludlow, it would appear that they sailed back between 186 and 1863,

No, this one married John William Dansey in 1823,

Edwards Collins Dansey first married Melanie Bonnere and had a Son Celestin Edward Dansey and a Daughter Adelaide Melanie whilst they lived in France. ECD had another Daughter, Emma Dansey Dansey when he came back to Shropshire. I think that the Mother was Mary Wigzell but she doesn't see doesn't seem to appear anywhere else, maybe an alias?

Isabella Hamilton Walker then appears and marries ECD c August 1837 and ECD dies in May 1842 leaving Isabella £13,000 in his Will. A lot of the rest of the story is in the book .
