Hi,

It was National Libraries Day yesterday and my local one held a 'Family History Help desk' event. A member of my county Family History Society was there and he kindly recommended your your excellent site to me. I've been researching my tree on and off for many years and am now very keen to add further 'meat' to somewhat sketchy records of my direct ancestors. I'm currently trying to research some of the Land family in Devon in the early 18th century, but names like 'John Land' are very common in the area around that time!

Hello and a very warm welcome to Genealogy Specialists (aka Top Dog ;) )

I see that you are finding your way around, so keep posting and we will do all that we can to help you add flesh to the bones of your tree.

Good luck with your research! :)

Ah - welcome aboard! C|:-)

Rather too foggy up here to see anything at the mo, but at least the frost has gone.

I have a few Devonshire ancestors too. A beautiful part of the world.

Welcome to Top Dog Kc9 - it is truly a lovely day here in North Devon isn't it? I'm a fairly new member too and I know you will find this a very welcoming site with many knowledgable and friendly members only too willing to help your researches

Hello Kc9 and welcome to Top Dog from another North Devonian C|:-)

Welcome to the forum, and happy hunting. My one link with the county is by a marriage in the 1880's, and the guy came from way down south in Newton Abbott.

Welcome kc9 C|:-)
You live in beautiful part of the world. I can trace back to the name Aish from Ashwater, Devon. How pretty is that village?

Welcome in kc9, what a lovely helper you have in your F.History Soc.
I also have Family (married intos) from Devon,- Axminster- Dimon; Exeter- Durant; E.Stonehouse- Biss, & Whilley.

V.happy to see your post as it sent me to look at my files only to find several persons listed as born in Devon, Kent! Off I go now to see if that means Dover , Kent or some where in Devon. Early findings copied from a subs. site!!
