Happy New Year to everyone!

Thought I'd start 2015 off right by joining this site and getting back to trying to find some rellies who have been eluding me for several years. I found TOP DOG some time ago but hadn't got round to joining, but having pointed another new member in its direction earlier today, I told myself "Get on with it!"

I was previously (with a different username) on a site that has recently gone over to a lot of military stuff - my missing people are not military - so I'm hoping that there will be some help with more general research here. And of course I'll try to help where I can :)
 
Well good for you! Lovely to have you. Snoop around and get comfy. The members here are amazing (go off topic at the drop of a hat sometimes) and can ferret out even the most tricky ancestor. Shout if you need anything.

You have most definitely made the right decision to join us here on Top Dog, which is not only extremely helpful for all things genealogy, but is also the friendliest forum on the www as far as searching for your family history is concerned.8(:-)

We sometimes get a wee bit carried away and drift off on subjects that have little or no relevance to what we were discussing, but that is only a few of us who seem to have been directed here to make mischief and (hopefully) good fun!;) When this happens one of our ever vigilant moderators quickly brings us back into line and slaps our hand (well, actually that is an exaggeration, so you really shouldn't believe anything I say as I do rabbit on far too much!):oops:

Anyway, hopefully by now you will realise that you have joined a wonderful group of people, who in no time at all will feel like they are all your family, but don't let that stop you asking questions that will hopefully help break down all your brick walls. I have had wonderful help during 2014 which led me to breaking down some enormous brick walls which have stood in my way for many years. :D
