Hi, just found this forum and it looks really friendly. I live in Nottinghamshire but my ancestors are all over the place! Mostly Derbyshire. I have been researching since the early 80's so have quite a lot of brick walls (hope some of you have large sledgehammers! I can't get to the archives nowadays as I have MS so all my research is on Ancestry, but I had a good start, loved going to the archives, you get such a buzz when you find someone. Hope to get to know you all, sorry for the long post

Welcome to the forum, where you will find the friendliest members on the interwebby. We are all up for a challenge, so have a good look round, post your brickwalls where appropriate and we will do our best to reduce them to rubble.

Hi Jan, Welcome from a member down under! So good to have you join us! Hope you enjoy being here as much as I do, but I really must warn you that it can be very obsessive (just like family history!). Plenty has already been said about how good the members are at helping knock down brick walls (they recently helped me knock down a huge brick wall that I have had standing for close to 20 years), but I have to say that they are also a very chatty lot and things very often go completely off topic (until the other Jan...the boss lady) pulls us back into line and places the topic in a more appropriate place. She never stops us though and we have some great 'conversations' on some great topics. Don't ever worry about how long your postings are, we love to read them, and if you look at some in Chatterbox, you will see what I mean!
