I am Fiona Johnston from Suffolk, East Anglia. Over eighty people have now told me that I bear a strong resemblance to the actor, Douglas Henshall, the Scottish actor, in fact this has stimulated my interest when forty or fifty saw the likeness. Most of the Henshalls came from Cheshire which is where most of my mother's antecedents came from although some have been found in Staffordshire & Derbyshire, the rest migrated up to Scotland before 1850. I know that a John Slater married a Harriet Henshall and also discovered a James Johnston Henshall thereby I am hoping that the Johnston which was his middle name, was that of his mother's maiden name. There are a few James's in the family and definitely a fair number on his side - he came from Manchester/Wirral. Even my mother who is in an old people's home with dementia, could see the likeness and the staff are definite about it. Would there be anyone who can help me with this. Thank u very much
I don't know whether a DNA study from you or a male relative on the Johnston side would help or not. As Jan said, post the details that you know in a query. Either way, I'm glad you found us!
