I told my friend (who is fond of calling me to talk about nothing) to get off the phone because it was too hot to talk. Thankfully it seems cooler today (or I may have spoken too soon)

Completely off-piste but, as this is the General Chatter section.....

We had a thunderstorm and a half overhead yesterday evening, which lasted for a couple of hours. At least one tree has come down on the road to a nearby village and a local food delivery service had to close as they were flooded out.

On the plus side, it certainly cleared the air and is much cooler this morning.

It’s quite legal here but it must be clear plastic, no label and kept on the floor. I think it’s quite cruel to ban water.

Priceless, but it’s too hot to laugh ……

A tad warm over there ladies? My poor great grandparents emigrated from the Scottish Highlands to Kalgoorlie. Almost the middle of the desert in West Australia. I have no idea how they survived in a house with a tin roof and no running water. The ladies still wore their long wool skirts.

Rain forecast for tomorrow afternoon here and gosh do the plants need it. The peony flowers have been superb this year but are over so soon in this heat.

Our peonies are still in bud. We did have a very stormy night on Wednesday/Thursday and the rain was torrential... by the afternoon everything was wilting in the heat again (including Me).
