I have arrived!

Thanks to Pam and her "newsletter" I have found the old gang :-)

I did have a bit of a stressful time registering as I kept being told that the CAPTCHA was incorrect but there isn't one. My husband searched the net and discovered what I had to do. I have not seen a slide thingy before, sigh.

I have been researching my family history for more years than I care to remember. I have ancestors from several counties in England and two interesting ancestors from overseas. One is Russian and came to England when Elizabeth I was Queen. The other was possibly from the Netherlands and came to England in the 17th century. He was a surgeon and alchemist. He worked with Isaac Newton, my ancestor did a lot of the practical work. Both men were clearly very intelligent and I am very proud of them.

Many of my ancestors were gardeners which probably explains my love of gardening. I also knit, sew, crochet and cross stitch. I don't know which ancestors I can thank for these skills.

Hi Copper and welcome! C|:-)

Settle back, have a good look round and start posting. Stop off at your profile on the way and help us with your location, and then will will not try to send you to impossible to reach places. ;)

Have fun!

Welcome to Top Dog Copper, nice to see yet another familiar face.

That's 2 of us that have come here from Pam's Newsletter. The CAPTCHA thingy also confused me for.......being a male......a moment or two.

Only joking. I took me a fair few minutes to work it out.

Welcome.

Hello Copper

Welcome, settle down, and enjoy! Theoretically I knit too, but it seems to have taken rather a back seat lately ... but I'll leave the crochet to you, if you don't mind.

I'm being nosey but as a Dorset lass I want to know where? I was born in Weymouth where most of the family still are (many of the ancestors too)

Welcome Copper, when do you find time to knit, sew and crochet? all things I used to do before I went looking for dead people!

Hello Copper and welcome aboard.

The slider thing is a bit unusual but keeps the spammers at bay.

Hi Copper, welcome in, you'll be good at picking up dropped stitches (or rellies) & untangling wool (which has been placed over our eyes), won't you?

Hello me old mate ;)
Many years ago you helped me, when I was new and scared and unsure.
I'll always be grateful and it's good to know you have found us and will once again join in with helping the newbies. I'll certainly never forget your kindness.
Welcome C|:-)

Hello Copper, lovely to see you again. Like coming home isn't it? :)

Ann

Hi Copper,
I'm another who found the site thanks to Parish Chest's newsletter and technical support from Frank and Chimp! Who knew about slidy things!
Welcome

I thought the slidey thing was rather cool, once I'd worked it out.

Everyone seems to be picking up their newsletters this morning. :)

Isn't it great to see so many new members? I too had a bit of bother until I noticed the "Slidey thing" but perseverance is what makes a good researcher so we got here in the end.

Hi Copper, glad to see you here.
When I'm not looking for dead people I love gardening too :)

Hi Copper! I have only just caught up with this thread. It's great as you say to see so many old friends here. :) I also couldn't work the bar thing out, but me old mate AnnB got here before me, and showed me the way. It's so nice being amongst old friends and getting to know new ones. 8(:-)

In answer to a couple of questions - I live in Poole but was born in London, south of the river but lived in the East End from the age of 2 months until the age of 12 years.

I do the yarn hobbies when I watch TV in the evenings. I am not very good at sitting and doing nothing.

I also transcribe for Free REG and I have a one name study for a name not in my family tree, a long story.

Hello Copper.
Lovely to see you again. This is a friendly forum. You'll enjoy it. I also was stymied by the "slidy thing" so don't feel too bad as I gather that the "slidy thing" caused a few people to ponder.
Jane
