    Found the following interesting note in the Holywell cum Needingworth online transcripts.

    "May 30th 1671 paid cen? to Dr Budd by Edward Offley the sum of (pound sterling sign)2 16s 11d collected in Halywell (Holywell) upon the brief for the redemption of English captives taken by Turkish pyrates".
