As you can see from my profile, my name is Doug and I am one of the administrators of the Genealogy Specialists forum.
I have been researching my family for over 25 years now and probably like most of you with varying degrees of success. On one line I have managed to go back to the late 1600s whereas on another I am stuck in the late 1800s.
Initially I had no interest in family history at all. My mother on the other hand was an avid researcher and in the days before computers became common had amassed huge amounts of information in books and folders. I have no idea how she kept track of it all. I offered to enter her information on to a genealogy program and then one day I noticed I was researching names as well as entering them. And the rest as they say, is history.
