Hello everyone. I sent off and received this morning a death cert for a John Simpson in 1851, as he isn't in the 1851 census and his wife listed as a widow, but from the info, I very much doubt its my John. His occupation states a Gentleman and I take that to mean he lived by his own means? My John was an Excise Man so can't be same person. Might try getting a copy of the other death entry you mentioned and see what that opens up.
