Hi to all you friendly people, I've been reading some of your posts, and you all seemed so friendly and helpful I just had to join in.
I've been researching for a couple of years now, following in the footsteps of my father, and my daughter does a little too. Had a running start as my husband (IT whiz) saved my Dad's files as GedComs and I used them to start our trees (more than a decade after Dad died).
Our ancestors all originated in Britain and Ireland and arrived in Oz in the 19th Century mostly as free settlers; all the convicts are on my mother-in-law's side!
. Some branches of our trees crossed over to North America as well.
I enjoy checking out the places (online and physically) where the ancestors came from and indeed we'll be visiting some of our ancestral locations in a few weeks time: going from John O'Groats to Lands End in the process.
Thanks for letting me join, I look forward to chatting with you.
P.S. Peregrine was our beautiful female Brittany Spaniel; she died last year.
