Thoughts needed please for Fathers occupation. To assist with the writing the residence at time of marriage is Marlboro St and Fathers name is Michael Redmond.

It looks like Tradesman to me at first glance - can you give the reference so that we can compare the handwriting on other entries please?

Sorry to disagree but, of all the Registers that SWMBO has transcribed, I can't think of, in all those many thousands, of any reference to 'Landowner'. Indeed, this record, showing what appears to be 'street address' also infers otherwise. For a 'landowner', I would expect something like Manor, House, etc, to be dominant in the address.

In fact, I'm not convinced that the first letter is an 'L'. With the miniature 'v' at the top, I'm more inclined to see it as a 'T' as in 'Tradesman'.

EDIT: Flook got in before me. DOH!

Tradesman.

This is on a marriage certificate, is it not? Do you have the chap in a census at all?

This is from a 1917 Marriage in Dublin ,Ireland and I cannot be sure ,looking at the 1911 and 1901 census for Ireland which Michael Redmond is which as it's a very common name.
I have just got a Birth cert of,I think, the Michael Redmond, who is getting married and the father,Michael Redmond on the birth cert in 1884 is shown as a Gate House man.but this could be completely the wrong man.
When I first looked at this occupation of the father I just read it as labourer but on looking again I must say I did see what looked like .....man
