Looking for Flemings

I have a John Hiram Fleming born Abt 1740 allegedly in Scotland.D: Abt 1795 in Pennsylvania. Married his wife Sarah reed, Abt 1777 based solely on birth of first child. Sarah is said to be from Ireland, B: 1744 d: 1812. Their son Ezekiel was born in Pennsylvania 1789 and last record in 1850 in Illinois. No record tying Ezekiel to John and Sarah. Research was done by Hugh Clifford in the book, Flemings of oil Creek.

I see that Ancestry has an account of John Fleming (the name of Hiram not being mentioned) that has him being from England rather than Scotland. I had a look on the ScotlandsPeople website, but could not find him listed, although that does not mean to say that he wasn't there!

Meanwhile, the account on Ancestry has him being born about 1740 and dying about 1790. Also, that he fought in the revolutionary war. Mind you, this was first shared back in 2011 and has been copied by 51 people since.

If you have access to Ancestry, it can be found here:

Note: no direct links to Ancestry are allowed as it is fee charging. ;)

How have you traced back through to this chap and do you have source records for the links. :)

You may already have this information, but it could help others on the Forum to trace your Sarah FLEMING backwards. US Find a Grave records the death of Sarah FLEMING at Miller Farm Cemetery, Venango County, Pennsylvania on 20 February 1812 her date of birth being shown as 19 January 1749 in Ireland and her maiden name as REED. Various US census records none of which have any details which might help to trace her back.
