Louisa Truscott

Colin, you are able to look at your back orders. But they are only available for the last 3 month.

Log in and select 'My Orders' from the box on the right. Then enter (say) 23/06/2016 to 22/09/2016. This will bring up a list of your orders.

(Here is one of mine)

Well, Terry, thanks for this - it explains why I got what I did. I was the one who made the mistake of ordering based upon providing the G R O reference info.

I've now ordered the one that checks the years either side of 1841 and to limit the mother's maiden name to TRETHOWAN. Anticpated despatch date 14 Oct. 2016. Hopefully receive it before I'm called for surgery - but that's another story.

Today I received an email from the G R O.

Using the name LOUISA ELLEN TRUSCOTT birth district FALMOUTH and searching either side of 1841 they claim "Unable to find any entry with the information provided"

A refund has been processed.

All I have to prove her birth was a baptism of 28 Oct. 1853 and census records 1851 age 10, 1861 age 22 and 1871 age 30.

Could her birth have not been registered?

Although civil registration was introduced in July 1837, it did not become compulsory until 1875. Some people thought that to have a child baptised was the same as registering that child. The 1874 Act (enacted in 1875) made registration compulsory within a 6 week period of the birth and imposed a fine if this deadline was missed - or if the birth was not registered at all.

Therefore, between 1837 and 1875, some children may not have been registered. :)

I wonder -----?
In 1839 in Falmouth during the Oct-Dec. q. an unnamed MALE Truscott was registered. A baptism in Budock on 28 Oct. 1853 happened - name William Henry Truscott.
The census for 1841 has William but no Louisa - this was held 6 June 1841.

There is not an unnamed FEMALE Truscott registered in Falmouth in 1841 - but -- there is an unnamed MALE Truscott registered Jan-Mar q. 1841 in Falmouth. Could this be her and the gender mistranscribed? Not likely as not included in the 1841 census.

A possible has been found in another year - an unnamed FEMALE Truscott was registered in Falmoth Jul-Sep. q. 1844 vol. 9, page 77.
Could this be her - or am I grasping?

Regardless - after 1871 census as a 30 year old Housekeeper, living with her father - a Butcher - living on Prince Street, Falmouth RG10/2292/89/37 is her last sighting.

Don't worry yet folks - they're only going to discuss it with me in November. I'll provide info on a seperate thread once I know.

Well no decision has been made - touch wood - but the waiting could well be the part that spoils the enjoyment of the Christmas season.

More appointments 6th and 10th of January 2017 as well as increased medications and a 2nd needle - the other is weekly - commeced 16 November with a followup 16 December and again on 16 May 2017.

Now taking 12 pills daily so am now drinking lite beer.
