Manslaughter, not murder

That's fine! Not every day that you find a murderer in the family! :D
We've got one in ours, although only connected by marriage - keep telling hubby he's safe.....for now:D. The murder was in the 50s and he killed his sister with a hand axe. Been to the archives and seen the file - sad really although interesting at the same time.

Hubby was jealous as so far the only criminal in his family did six months hard labour for........duck stealing:D. Well they did live in the country:rolleyes:

Like Liane we have an axe murderer by marriage, my daughter in laws family
I was doing the family for my grandchildren and her maternal side has a man accused of killing his wife with an axe then commiting suicide left 8 children!
but daughter in laws mum was not amused!

Most of the older and I don't mean old, members here all know about my murder because it was you lot that found her. She did have a mass of problems though. Still, she was the murderer of a six year old boy whether she knew what she was doing or not.
She was related only by marriage, thank goodness. Her victim wasn't though.

Why was she called 'Peg' when her name was Emily? :sceptical:

(Hull Daily Mail, dated 24th June).
They seemed to like to confuse people. My Mom was Peggy or Peg to all that knew her. Her real name was Dorothy Mary. I was always told she was called this because of a favourite aunt of one of her parents. I haven't found a Peggy or Margaret anywhere!

Congratulations Jan. Its nice when a whisper from the past proves truthful :)

Crumbs, one of ours received a fourteen year working holiday in Oz for two chickens.

We did have one serious criminal in the 1880s, a 1st cousin 2x removed - he was a bad boy. :(

I have an ancestor sibling who was the last man hung in Essex, anything not nailed down he would nick, his undoing was to go to an orchard and cut down trees, no explanation why, probably a grudge.

Apparently there was such an outcry against the execution it led to hanging being banned in Essex, apparently the orchard owner was against him being hanged, he said had he known the outcome he would not have had him charged.
