Any idea how I would find a divorce when the groom was in the Army?

Arthur Cohen

First Marriage took place in India but now Pakistan in 1941

He marries again in Egypt 1950

His first wife arrives in Adelaide Aug 1951 as Mrs Cohen along with their son (no name as still living)
 
Whilst the National Archives research guide on divorce states that it just covers those in Britain, I would have thought that British Armed Forces would also be covered by that.

In which case, it says:
For legal proof of your own divorce, or any divorce in England or Wales since 1858 to the present, go to the GOV.UK website for details of how to request a copy of a decree absolute.

The link then goes on to say:
If you do not know which court to ask, you can ask the Central Family Court to search for the decree absolute or final order.

Fill in form D440 and send it to the address on the form. It costs £65 for each 10 year period that’s searched.

Failing that, perhaps an email to the Ministry of Defence would be able to help.

I have had a search on NA J77 with no luck. Looks like a £65 bill coming my way.
edit, there is an email address on that form so sent off an email asking if they would cover a divorce in this case hopefully saving £65 if they don't

There’s quite a few people on Australian National Archives arriving as stateless from Egypt around 1951. Would his first wife be deemed stateless if the divorce took place in Egypt?
 
National Archives Australia has her name and ship and year of birth arriving in August but if she was stateless it would say. The file has open access but it hasn’t been digitised yet. You could contact them for a copy as it may be able to tell you more.

Had a reply back to my email saying they only hold the central index for England and Wales. Think I'll keep my £65 for BMD certs and try the MOD as Daft Bat suggested
