Eliza SIMPKINS is 7 years old in the 1841 census (438/16/7/8) and living at the Three Horseshoes Public House in St Albans with her parents William and Rebecca.
Another person living there is Eliza NICHOLS and, upon delving into the birth of Eliza SIMPKIN’s brother John in 1840, it seems that Rebecca’s maiden name was also NICHOLS.
The 1851 census (1713/318//15) has the family still at the Horseshoes (no Three
) and shows that William was born in North Mimms and Rebecca in St Peter’s – both Hertfordshire.

I am unable to find a marriage for William and Rebecca.
All help gratefully received.
