More handwriting help please.

Sis

Rootles out resources!
Is there any chance that someone is able to tell me what the handwritten word before the word aged is please. The burial was in 1804 even though it has 17___ it's hand written in on another part of the page. The other burials that I can read have the Registered date the same as the burial date and the E Bradley is quite clear on others too. It's just that word after his name which is not very clear. FMP have transcribed it as Infant, but I'm not convinced.

What I can read is:
James Rixson ??????? aged___ of this parish _______was buried ??????? 17__
Registered Oct 26th by me E Bradley

(Hint: it's in Swanscombe, register image available at CityArk - ref P362/1/30 ;))

At first I was a bit dubious about 'Infant', but if you look at the entry above it says quite clearly 'an infant'. This one has a similar 'an', then a gap, and what could well be 'inf-' before it fades away.

I think your right @arthurk, thank you. What was throwing me was the line going down at the end of the word, if that makes sense. I was making something out of nothing really.

Thank you Sandie I'll take a look. It's been a long time since I looked at this family.

Can you tell me where he was baptised and died please as I can't find him in the Swanscombe parish registers. Thanks.

OK, found him in an Ancestry Tree and a transcription of his baptism on Ancestry. Can't for the life of me find him in the parish register!

Did you know that the Cityark website has moved and no longer called that @arthurk. It's now at:
Code:
http://medway.adlibhosting.com/
Er, maybe o_O. It's not a site I use regularly, so I just put something like CityArk Medway in a search engine and it gave me the site you mentioned.

Then I was so keen to get on with the search that I didn't notice it had a different name.

Glad you found it on Ancestry I should have said that was where I found Thomas
Like you couldn't find him on Swanscombe registers, after I had found how to find them in Cityark!! it wasn't very clear to me and registers are a bit faded in parts still we are lucky to have them I guess.
