Only a little (honest!!) but today has seen the end (I hope) of a s****y (sorry, read "rather un-joyful") December and for the first time in ages I'm feeling great.

To save everyone from more fallout from my euphoria I'm about to take myself off to bed with a fun book and I'll leave all of you to solve the world's problems without me. Tomorrow I'll be back to my usual sobersides self. :eek: :rolleyes:

Can anyone find a John Harris of the Grove, Knighton, Radnorshire. He would be a Farmer. He was the one that William Webb was indented too. Not expecting to find William there as he would be 39/40 in 1841. He only needed to work for Mr Harris until he reached the age of 21, that would have been in 1822/23.

Is there a place in Knighton called Great Cwmgylla? (or similar - no good at Welsh names. If so, I think I have found him. Will post details shortly.

Yes there is. The only Grove that I know of is at the opposite end of the town to Cwmgylla a distance of around 2 miles. But, that's not to say there isn't a farm called the Grove there too.
 
He is still at the same place in 1851-HO107/2493/87/2
A farmer of 270 acres 2 labourers but there are 6 listed with him

I have found his burial in our local MI's

ANNE wife of JOHN HARRIS, Cwmgilla in this parish and fourth daughter of the Rev RICE JAMES Rector of Whitton. Died 27th June 1839. Aged 55.
Also JOHN HARRIS formerly of Cwmgilla, Died 22nd Dec 1866. In the 85th year of his age.

Looks like his death was registered in the Clun Registration district Dec 1866.

I get 'Sir ????? Jones(?) Baronet' this would be from 1820
 
I reckon it's Harford, the squiggle on the end looks very similar to the d in Radnor at the top Chimp. I reckon the surname is Jones too.
From wikipedia:
Born on 12 January 1764, Sir Harford Jones-Brydges was the son of Harford Jones of Presteign, Radnorshire by Winifred, daughter of Richard Hooper of the Whittern, Herefordshire.
 
My eyesight is not good and my memory is worse. Trying to transcribe this lot is a nightmare for me. I read about four words from the Indenture, by the time I've looked back at the screen to start typing I have forgotten them :oops:
 
And kids today think life is hard. 9 years old - a baby, really, but not alone unfortunately even though it was in keeping with the times.

I keep thinking of the mines.....................
