Need some deciphering with this one please

It's the surname I'm needing help with, it's on the first page and the third entry in July 1666, second word in the entry.

Ancestry have it as Edwood Samuel baptised 15 Jul 1666 at Great Dunmow, son of Edwood and Mary.

For a start it's Edward not Edwood.

Secondly, it doesn't look like Samuel to me, it looks like a short phonetic version of Sewell, how they got Samuel from that beats me.

I'd be grateful for some suggestions please.
