New member searching Parsons family

Hi Janette, welcome to Top Dog C|:-)

Do you have any other information. This would help members try and pin him down ;)

What evidence do you have that he was born in 1879?

Do you have a birth name for your grandfather?

When he was adopted did he take on the Adams name?

Welcome in Janette.
Was your G'Father's birth name 'Parsons' ?
A Christian name may help find him if he was Baptised before adoption, or even if he was later Baptised as 'Adams' by adoptive parents in Hereford.

Many 'Parsons' born in that year coming up under Cardiff but I don't know where Penarth fits into early Baptism districts.

Welcome, welcome! C|:-) If you post what you know, the sleuths here will soon come to the rescue. :)

Interested in your Ballam name! My wifes family were Ballaam on her maternal side ( and I know there are all sorts of spellings!)

There is a family story that my grandfather was the illegitimate child of a member of the clergy or his family and a servant of the household.
He is said to have contacted his birth mother in later life and she told him he was born in Penarth.
One family member has said that his father was Henry Parsons but the only likely person I can find was a Henry Parsons who lived in Llandaff according to the 1871 census.

My grandfather was Robert Parsons and this was the name he kept even after his adoption.
It is rumoured in the family that he was the illegitimate son of a member of the clergy or of a member of his household and a servant. It is suggested his father was Henry Parsons.

I see on his marriage he says his father is Robert Pearson, deceases. If as you say he was illigitimate, this was probably a fictisous name.

This is what I thought too.If you look on the various census records you will see that on one he was born in Bristol, one said Ireland and yet another Penarth In his adult life when he traced his birth mother she told him it was Penarth and she was living on the Isle of White but she asked him not to contact her as she had a new life.
