New members having problems making first post

Hi, all.
I see new members posting on their profile status (which few regular users bother with), on other people's profile status, or starting conversations (I had one that I answered, but the user was long gone and hasn't returned). Is there a time lag between when a new person registers and when they can make a new post? The "Post New Thread" button is the same color as the banner, perhaps a different color or style will make it easier for newbies to find?

I'm worried that we are losing potential "regulars" when they can't successfully post that first thread.

There is no time lag. As soon as a member is registered, they are able to post.

Although we have lots of help listed for things like how to upload a picture, how to quote etc, it occurred to me that we do not have the basics covered!

Therefore, I have now created a new post that explains how to post new threads.
