No Frittering Away!

I have always liked bananas in a sandwich or a fritter.
Many years ago I was told by my mother that she ate a banana just before I was born.
Pineapple fritters are also a favourite of mine.
Did anyone ever eat bread sops or milky sops?
It was bread with butter in a little hot water. I used to like that but my sibling preferred milky sops.

That reminds me of my Dad making me a bowl of hot Oxo with bread whenever I had a cold!

It was very comforting (as was my Dad)

My Dad used to call these 'Pobs' also, but generally speaking Pobs is thought of as with milk (a northern term, I think).
Dad had his oxo and bread every single evening, his ritual before bed. I do miss him; he passed when I was in my early twenties.

who used to have bread and drippin' when they were little?
Me :D, especially at Christmas. Dad always had salt on his as well- mind you he only ate margarine and had sterilised milk until it was no longer available. I still have the odd slice of bread and dripping (when no one is looking;))

Now that I have ostracised myself from this forum by loving spam fritters - who used to have bread and drippin' when they were little? :D
Nothing wrong with a spam fritter. OXO and bread was also my mums go to when I had a cold.

Now my ultimate favourite comfort breakfast is buttered weetabix - can’t bear them with milk it goes back to my loathing of ‘mushy’ food

You are the first person I have ever known who admits to loving weetabix and butter. Most people think I am mad when I say it is the only way I can eat them. My OH has them for breakfast, in hot milk every day, and I cannot bear the smell, let alone the look or the taste. I have however taught my grandchildren the delights of having them buttered, much to their mum's dismay.

I know people think I’m weird but with milk they just turn my stomach. Of course buttered turns what is supposed to be a healthy breakfast into not so healthy but who cares. Enjoy

I thought I was a rarity in hating the taste and smell of hot milk, which means I only have a trace in coffee ,
ok in cocoa. but all cereals banned. Comes from when we were forced art school to drink the little bottles of milk every day, even when they had been delivered at 4.00am, froze , and were then melted in front of the fire in the classroom, giving a vile tasting warm gunge. . Might try the weetabix with butter though
