Under the heading of “Spanking for Short Skirts”, the following report was seen in the Kent Mid-Weekly newspaper today, 11th August, a hundred years ago in 1925:

Mrs Dorothy Rader, head usher in the Play House Square Theatre, in Cleveland Ohio, took poison after her husband of nine weeks had spanked her and sent her to bed without supper for wearing short dresses, says the Daily Express”. She is not expected to live.

What??? I wonder what he thought of the 1960s – if he was around then…

The thing that puzzles me is why it was reported over here in Blighty in the first place plus it must have been a very slow news week for the Kent Mid-Weekly

I wonder if she did survive after all…

The same "article" appears in at least 3 other newspapers of the day, the originator appearing to be the Daily Express of the 10th. The same page(s) include several "titbits" from the USA.
I would suggest that it was chosen due to the titillating wording!!

How times have changed
