Tim has sent me this, saying, "I was wondering if they made anything of their lives afterwards…was it all worth it ?
Thought the gang might enjoy this one."

Good luck!

I read it that they were of the County of Suffolk and, if so, could these articles relate to the family? Bit odd for a Rev. to marry at Gretna Green but having a quick dig around, it looks as if he was a dissenting minister, so maybe that makes more sense. Apologies if I've gone completely down the wrong rabbit hole

Not sure Ann. There is a tree on FS with James Pilkington and Ann Clark, he born 1752 -1804. Died Ipswich Suffolk 15/9/1804. She was born 1754 died 1810 so these dates don’t work at all. These tree has a son James Clark
Pilkington.
Unless of course the birth dates on this tree are actually baptism dates, they being dissenters…..therefore it could be them.
Perhaps try to find his death in 1804.

I had read the marriage date as 1766…how I have no idea. So ages fit a bit better now.

Find a Grave has Ann Pilkington Drummond, wife of Thomas ( 1764 1856) founder of the Rosary Cemetery, Norwich, daughter of Rev James Pilkington 1750-15 Sep 1802 and Ann, died 1 Dec 1810 also James Clarke Pilkington died 17 Oct 1821 who was buried Thorpe-next Norwich 21 Oct of the Rosary. Thomas Drummond was the minister for his burial.

Thorpe was the location of the Rosary cemetery. interesting article at :.norfolkchurches.co.uk/norwichrosary/norwichrosary.

will of Rev James Pilkington of Ipswich, written Sept 1802 makes wife Ann (daughter of Peter and Ann Clarke of Ipswich) Exec, mentions son James Clarke Pilkington and his sister Ann. After James jnr's death Thomas Drummond was granted Admon.

Peter Clarke buried Nov 1804 age 82, Ipswich left will mentioning his wife Anne, daughter Anne Pilkington and son William Barnard Clarke

interesting aside and correction to above. Rev James died 15 Sep 1804 age 52. When his wife Ann died there was not enough room in his grave for her so their daughter Ann was given permission to move his body to the grave prepared for her. She died Dec 1 1801 and was interred on 6th james having previously re buried on the previous evening. ( from record of Ipswich, Old Meeting House, St Nicholas Street (Presbyterian), 1776-1837 signed by Thomas Drummond.)

and at the Suffolk Artists website there is an entry for William Barnard Clarke the grandson of Peter and Ann, with an image of a silhouette. and another entry for his brother Edward with an example of is work.

Crikey! I leave you lot alone for 5 minutes and you certainly do get your teeth into it all.

Will have a good look tomorrow as I have had drops in my eyes this morning, which are making it a bit hard to see properly.

Thank you!
