Puts the Heart into Hertfordshire
I'm trying to find out where the Partridge came from in the name of my 4x g grandfather Samuel Partridge Smith born 1803 in St Stephens, St Albans, parents Samuel and Hannah Smith. I'm hoping this will help me find more of the family, especially if it relates to Hannah. I thought it was Hannah's maiden name but it seems this might not be so. So I am trying a different tack
The family from Samuel down named some with the middle name of their grandmother, and several of their children with the middle name of the surname of a prominent local family, Cannon, who married into the family in several ways. Some Cannons were mayors of St Albans just before the naming began
In the next door parish of St Peter, at Heath Farm, lived Daniel Partridge and his wife Mary Bolton/ Boulton. He was mayor in 1781. He died in 1786, Mary between 1800 and 1804
I'm thinking maybe one of their surviving children married into the family, but they seem to disappear. Charlotte and Hugh Bolton Partridge died in infancy
They are Thomas born 1765
John 1767
Joseph 1769
Jeremiah 1771
Mary 1776
I wonder if anyone can help me find them?
