This card relates to Anthony Owen JEFFREY who was born in 1908 - but where?

If it helps at all, his address was Monkland Street, Middlesbrough in 1928.

Thank you. :)

That's what I was wondering, Ann. Thank you - it is good to have thoughts confirmed and I have just discovered a birth in Middlesbrough for the right year of an Owen JEFFREY, which might well be him. ;)

And I've just found a 3 year old Owen Jeffrey on the 1911 census at 20 Robert Street, Middlesbrough with dad Owen, so maybe they called him Anthony to distinguish him from his father.....

And in the 1921 census with his parents & siblings living at 32 Monkland Street, Middlesborough!!

As this was also the address that Anthony gave on an embarkation record in 1928, I reckon that the job's a goodun! :D

Thank you ladies. ;)

There is an Owen Jeffrey born in Middlesborough in 1905. None in 1908, but in 1926 an Owen Jeffrey married Margaret Downey, they have two sons 'O' 1927 and 'A******' 1934. So it does look like he used Anthony instead of Owen as all generations have an Owen. All these took place in Middlesborough. It seems that post #8 is a red herring. I will say though that there seems to be quite a few Owen Jeffrey's.
Though I do wonder why he went to Canada alone.

So he must be the Owen Jeffrey born 19 Feb 1908 and died 1983 Cleveland?
Yup. :D I have found him in the 1911 and 1921 censuses as Owen but the address in 1921 is the same one that he gave in 1928 as Anthony O on an embarkation record. No idea where the "Anthony" came from, but he used it when he married as well.

Found his parents' marriage and his MMN ties in nicely. :) Certificates will be ordered to confirm. ;)
