Researching Marion Bruce I fond Scotlands People had this birth/baptism record:

Baptism

Scotlands People
BRUCE. MARION; parents JHONE BRUCE/ HELEN WAEN FR10; 25/08/1644 Vol 488, 10 / 12; St Ninians, Stirling

Then this set of Banns/Marriage to James Balfour:

BRUCEMARIONJAMES BALFOUR/FR499 (FR499)09/09/165542610 / 490Dysart
BRUCEMARIONJAMES BALFOUR/FR714 (FR714)18/10/165542430 / 44Dunfermline
First child Agnes was born in 1656, so Marion Bruce was surely older than twelve years when Agnes was born! People matured much later back then than we do now so all I could conclude was that Marion was baptised late.

Can anyone find out more? Have I got the wrong century??

Unsourced trees on Ancestry giver her birth date as 1642, father John of Stirling, with parents for John but no mother, in fact his mother's name, according to them, is similar to his wife in that baptism. I do wish people wouldn't just blindly use other trees as their sources.

Maybe she was a few years old when baptised? sometimes parents arranged for a few of their children to be baptised on the same date
I usually find that Scots Baptise their children very swiftly after Birth, often on the same day! However, this family may have baptised late, who knows?

Yep- and it's sources I want!

Have you investigated the marriage of Jhone (sometimes Johne) Bruce to Helen(a) Waen (also Wan)? It may clear up whether Marion was a late baptism.
They baptised 2 more children at St Ninians (that I can see)
Helene 7/3/1647
Johne 30/9/1649

As an aside FMP has the marriage of Marion Bruce on 18/10/1655 to James Peterson (transcription only). You now from Agnes'bap that Marion married James Balfour, so it might clear up the date of the marriage.
