Railway Employees

The river is not only the county boundary it is also the country boundary. Knighton was in Radnorshire (now Powys) Wales and Stowe is in Shropshire, England.

The river Teme had to be diverted for the railway to be built. But Knighton railway is actually in England. Some of the town is in England too.

That is why the Welsh name for the town is Tref-y-clawdd which roughly translated means Town on the dyke. Offa's Dyke. I think the whole of the town was in Wales but with the coming of the railway houses were built the other side of the river, so enlarging Knighton and invading England.
