Richard Hendee.webp

From Family Searc Life sketch of Richard Hendee:

His family came from Huguenots, from Normandy area of France, and migrated to England. Fleeing persecution, from the "Religious Wars". They left England and came to America, when he was still a young child. His occupation was listed as a Doctor, yet others have said he was a Carpenter. His Father was the Carpenter. He married to Hannah Elderkin, and had a Daughter, Hannah, and three Sons, Richard, Caleb and Jonathan. Caleb died young leaving no children. John Elderkin was listed, as Guardian, of Children,Hannah, Richard, and Jonathan, as they were listed as Orphans, by 1672. [History of Norwich] Shown In Memory Section.

Richard’s Son, Richard, married, Sarah Smith, and had a son, Jonathan, with his Mother dying soon after His birth. Jonathan, was left with and raised by Her family. Son,Richard remarried to Elizabeth Conant having several children ~ Hannah, Josiah, Caleb,Joshua, Elizabeth, Barzillai, Asa, Nathaniel, and Mary. With Mary’s information, Barzillai was, in charge, of His Fathers Will. Richard’s Daughter, Hannah, married to Samuel Belden (Belding) whom She had several Children with.

Note - Information on Richard Hendee can be found on WIKI, Geni, Ancestry, My Heritage. Some of what is out there, unfortunately is off, with facts, so be careful. Nothing connects the Hendee Line and the Handy Line.
