Susanna/h Jeffery and family 1861

Not sure if he is Your William Grey or not.

There is a piece in the paper about the Neath Colliery Explosion.

It's in the Cardiff and Merthyr Guardian - 8th April 1848 - page 3 - 3rd Column

It mentions William Grey, single man

I'm afraid I don't have time to transcribe it as the article is quite long and sods law I have a night of training ahead of me.

I was then ploughing through it.
It says John Grey,no family,but wife near her confinement.
William Grey,single man.
I wonder if a mistake was made berween these two?
The marriage certificate has Eliza and William marrying.
A child born in Wales in 1848 has a mother with the surname Jeffery and 1851 and 1861 the child is living in Cornwall with his grandmother Susanna.
Eliza disappears.

FMP has the 24th August 1846 marriage certificate of Eliza and William. William is of age and Eliza is a minor.
FMP baptism has William born 1848 and he is baptised 11th June 1848. Father is a miner.
I splashed the cash for the birth certificate and William was born May 1848 and his father was William and he was deceased.
Haven't been able to find what happened to Eliza.
Her son is living with grandparents in 1851 and 1861.
 
Could Eliza be back in Cornwall in 1851?

Eliza Gray age 22 (b1829) Kenwyn working as a servant to John and Elizabeth Nicholls and children
She is listed as single, but she could have said that in order to get work.

Eliza baptised at Gwennap and living at Kenwyn.so that will fit in.
If I can find her son William maybe that will lead me to Eliza.
 
There seem to be Gray families living in the area where the Jeffery fmily lived and I wonder if any Gray's moved to Wales.
A brother of Eliza married in 1845 and one of the witnesses was a William Gray.
Probably not the same one but who knows?
Eliza and William married in Wales the following year. 1846.
William's father was Thomas. I will have to see if Thomas and William were in Wales in 1841.
 
There is a John Jeffery and his wife nee Mary Lobb in a tree and he is the son of Richard Jeffery and Mary Opie and they have entered the same marriage that I have.
The John (born 1825) I am looking for has a mother nee Bray and I am wondering who is correct, because when he married, his name was John Bray Jeffery.
Seeing his mother Susanna was a Bray ,I wonder if that is why he added the Bray. His father waa also Richard.
I can't find Bray added elsewhere at the moment.
The marriage was 2nd July 1845. Gwennap
1851 John is living with wife and family at Twelveheads. and about 5 places away from his mother Sisanna and mother-in-law Susan Lobb is there as well.
I don't want to add him to the tree if he isn't the correct John.
 
wiki and anc has John Bray Jeffery and parents,according to this person, are Richard Jeffery and Susanna Bray.
The person has John Bray Jeffery marrying Elizabeth Trenear but his father is John. They married at Gwennap in 1851.
If I read it correct,.there are 3 spouses for John Jefferey in that tree.
Trenear,Vian and Lobb.
I think tht I have the correct person because of the middle name on the mrriage certificate and that he was 5 doors away from his mother in 1851
 
It looks like John and most of his family died in the Chacewater area and Susan Lobb in 1861 looked after Elizabeth born 1848 and Richard born 1851. Susan Lobb died in Truro Union in 1875.
Can't find Richard and Elizabeth at the moment.
The tree with Opie and Trenear is incorrect.
 
Richard and Susanna also had a son William Bray Jeffery baptised 1830 Gwennap.
