Can anyone make out the cause of death. The ink seems to have bled through from the reverse page. The first part is for reference only.

I want to say congestion of the heart, but am really not sure about congestion.

I think what can be seen behind is a draft version which has been inked over. The first one is clearly Lodging House Keeper, like the even clearer darker one.

Rather sneakily, they've changed the order of the words for the cause of death, but that does actually help a bit. The faint version ends with 'Complaint', and the dark one ends with 'of the Heart'. Put them together, and you can make it out as 'Complaint of the Heart' (dark) or 'Heart Complaint' (faint).

(Exactly which complaint of the heart may be forever a mystery.)
