Archie's Mum
Always digging up clues
Dont forget The British Home Children, sent to all corners of the Commonwealth, never to see their parents again. The Boy's Home Stepney, was part of the Barnardo's organisation
I wonder if Ann signed Arthur over to them, as she was struggling, with her husband in an institution.
His connection with Barnardos might explain why he went to New Zealand.
We have near us, at Molong, Fairbridge Farm, where many poor young British kids ended up, some abused, some came through it quite well, making great lives for themselves. Some reunited with family, some not so lucky. Some told their parents were dead, but weren't. On the main road to Molong we now have a memorial park dedicated to these kids that includes a memorial to those who served for Australia in conflicts.
