Weren't perukes those complicated looking wigs, all rows of curls? A bit like Judges and Barristers wear in court today. What a fascinating ancestor to have.
 
I have one! in 1714 Oliver Brooke was apprenticed to peruke maker Joseph Ludlow of Bristol. Oliver was the son of My 6xgt grandfather (another Richard Brooke, you may remember his descendant my "bankrupt brewer) . Unfortunately I can find no trace of him after this

This is the son of my possible 6x g grandfather, both called George Sneath of Eton. George sr was a noted as a barber, but George jr seems to have taken it a step further. This is around the mid 1700s
