What's 'er name please?

This is from the 1891 Channel Island census for Alderney.
RG12/4707 F. 77 P. 2

I'd like to know the widow's name. It is transcribed as M Pring and she is a relative to the head of the household Walter Count (says Ancestry but he is actually Walter Coomb/es)

Surely looks like M Pring from here Mutters, the 'P' matches that in Pensioner further up the page, 'r' looks like others also.

I wonder if she was related to James from Devon, residing on Guernsey at St Sampson 1891?
She may be Mary Pring-widow/servant on Guernsey 1881?

How on earth do I connect him/her to Walter, though both seem to be born in Devonshire.

I don't have site for Channel Island marriages for Walter & his Mary nor the births of children. It's only a guess that they married on the island as Mary was said to be born there.

Wot's 'er name Mutters? Well if I were my late m-in-law I would say to you "YOU KNOW" and then get very peeved when you point out you have never heard of said lady before!!

However, as I'm not, I'll just say "best of good old British m'girl".

I've almost given up chasing someone reportedly in my ancestry whose name appeared out of the blue and nobody can remember who first mentioned her, let alone what proof they had of her existence - but many, many people have her in their respective trees anyway. At least you have a RECORDED name to work on, mine only comes I'm sure via the brothers Grimm.

I know nothing about this family. A friend gave me his grandfather's death certificate a couple of days ago and asked if I could find out about him.

The mother's name on the death certificate is Mary Ann Ollivier so I am sure you are heading in the right direction.

M Pring must be a relative of his great grandfather Walter Coombs.
So I am off to Devon to try and join the dots between the Coombs, Prings and Clapps.

No doubt I'll have a few more questions to put on another thread.

Had a very interesting time on this yesterday Mutters, probably made a mystery where none existed, but it kept my thought off the postal person who hasn't delivered yet.
Several varieties of Mary Clapp b, Devon around the required time. If I'd pursued anymore I would have run out of day, but thanks for the trip. I saved you the best part of the search
