Who did she marry?

There is this death for a Jack Blundell, same birthdate as on the 1939 register.

Jack Blundell
Sex Male
Birth -8th June 1910
Registration month - November 1994
District - Liverpool
District number - 0251C
Register number - C12D
Entry number 143

If I have got this correct, the story should be as follows…

Kathleen Ellen WALLIS was born 27th August 1913 to parents Albert George and Ellen (née STEADMAN) In Hastings, Sussex. (Birth was registered in 3rd quarter, which bears this out)

She can be found in the 1921 census living at 111 Queen's Road, Hastings, Sussex, aged 7.

Kathleen married Jack BLUNDELL in 1936 and can be found living with him on the 1939 Register at 213 Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings, Sussex, her occupation noted as Unpaid Domestic Duties. The Register states that her surname changed to DUNK on 30th September 1959.

The Electoral Registers of 1958 and 1962 shows her at Rollesby, Baldslow Down, Hastings, Sussex, living with Arthur Frederick Dunk, and using the surname of DUNK..

Arthur had married Bessie Marjorie ENEFER in Hastings in 1929.

Jack BLUNDELL died in Liverpool in 1994 and Arthur DUNK died in Hastings in 1971.

Arthur’s wife Bessie did not die until 1975.

I suspect that, owing to both Bessie and Jack being alive until 1975 and 1994 respectively, and that Jack died at the other end of the country, perhaps Kathleen and Arthur never married – especially as I can find no marriage for them.

Now, the next question is…

When and where did Kathleen die?

There is a death registration in the March quarter of 1974 for a Kathleen Ellen BLUNDELL, but this gives a dob of 4th January 1913 and the death was registered in Hemel Hempstead. I know that the information on a death certificate is only as good as the knowledge of the person providing it, but Hemel Hempstead?

If you have stayed with me thus far, thank you. :)

Although Arthur died in 1971, his probate date was 10/8/1973.

I wonder if getting a copy of the will to see who were the benefactors of this pretty large sum would help clear up the matter.

The death of Kathleen looks possible, nearer than anything else I could find:D

That took a while to get to probate! He was an auctioneer, so I expect that there was a lot to tie up.

Yes, a copy of the will could help... :reading:

Thank you. :)
